@article{Hannan2023,
abstract = {Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) owing to its excellent properties have found its extensive application in various fields ranging from medical to automobile and aerospace industries. This has thereby led to ever-increasing demand of carbon fiber production and as well as resulting in tonnes of carbon fiber wastes in the landfills [5]. Due to the high positive impacts of using carbon fibers, the energy intensive and cost intensive production of virgin fibers and the growing landfills are often overlooked. Hence, the need for recycling and repurposing of carbon fiber wastes have gained the significance at present day. Although various recycling technologies have been developed yet, various challenges are faced with processing of recycled carbon fibers (rCF). Besides, the desired application specific properties are not compromised for high cost and high-energy requirement. Therefore, an overall development of processing rCF is sought from not only a sustainability point but also an economic point [7]. Various efficient recycling technologies are currently operating. The challenges arises in commercializing the recycled fibers after the recycling process. The recycled fibers often require various post-processing of fibers and undergoes fiber degradation. This induces a skeptical mindset for the buyers to introduce the recycled fibers in the material ecosystem. This paper currently discusses the processing challenges of long rCF in a compounding plant. To form a closed loop, the recycled fibers are obtained from the novel thermocatalytic degassing process from the CFRP recycling pioneers in Germany, Global EnerTec AG, Guben. This plant in Guben not only recycles carbon fibers from automotive CFRP wastes but also repurposes the epoxy matrices into secondary energy sources. This paper focuses in investigating the processing of rCF obtained from a 100% recycling technology. The aim is to investigate the possible technical challenges so that the rCF can be repurposed to new product manufacturing. Thereby, addressing the concerns with the development of closed loop circular economy in recycling CFRP wastes.},

abstract = {Production engineering involves the integration of various scientific disciplines and serves as a link between different fields of science. With the advent of new technologies and the emergence of increasingly narrow specializations, it has become necessary to identify where and how modern technologies can provide specific benefits. Despite not being classified as a separate discipline, production engineering is present in various other disciplines and fields of science. This article aims to analyze areas related to production engineering that have the support of scientific and teaching staff. The research conducted examines the areas of support, their consequences, and the expected future direction of development in this field.},

abstract = {In manufacturing environments, health and safety in the workplace is very important for all employees to work efficiently and productively. Ergonomic risk factors can have a negative impact on workers when performing their tasks at work. And generate costs for enterprises due to sickness absence, reduced quality. Therefore, ergonomic assessments of workstations should be widely used. The paper presents an ergonomic risk assessment using computer modeling and simulation based on a palletizing station as a case study. The palletizing station was modeled in a virtual environment using DHM Process Simulate Human. The DHM was used to perform an ergonomic assessment of the worker's posture using the RULA method. The Picking activity was qualified to action category 3, while Placing on a pallet-to the fourth action category. The Ishikawa diagram was used to diagnose the causes of ergonomic risk to musculoskeletal disorders, which allowed for the formulation of recommendations. Recommendations relating to changes in the layout of the workplace were applied in DHM. The ergonomic assessment of the operator working postures after the ergonomic intervention showed an ergonomic risk reduction. The Picking and Placing on the pallet activities were classified to action category 2.},

abstract = {3D printing technologies are gaining popularity year by year. They allow for a significant improvement in the production of prototypes and utility models. In addition, 3D printing facilitates the production of thin-walled elements and complex shapes, which is difficult when using traditional manufacturing methods. It should be noted that the technological parameters of 3D printing, such as the printing orientation and the thickness of a single layer, are very important because they affect the printing time, material expenditure and the dimensional accuracy of the printed details. There are many types of 3D printers, the operating principle of which and the building material used are different. However, one of the most popular and available types of additive manufacturing is Fused Deposition Technology. Therefore, detailed studies of this technology are particularly desirable by economic entities. The article presents research aimed at assessing the influence of the print direction and the thickness of a single layer of a building material on the flatness deviation and the 3D surface roughness parameters. Special thin-walled models were designed and printed from PLA material using a printer named MakerBot Replicator+. The research results presented in the article showed that the direction of printing and the thickness of a single layer of building material in the Fused Deposition Modeling Technology affect the roughness parameters, flatness and printing time of the produced models.},
